Concrete pool work in Fort Erie

We pour the concrete around the pool. Decks, pads, steps, and the apron the Town asks you to show on the permit drawing.
Fort Erie is not a generic Niagara backyard. Lake Erie wind, sandy lots at Crystal Beach, clay inland at Stevensville. The same mix does not sit the same in both places.
We are a family concrete crew out of Beamsville. In the trade since 1987. We take Fort Erie jobs through the pour season. Call if you want someone on the lot, not a guess from a photo.

We are concrete contractors. If you need the gunite shell itself, we will say so. Most Fort Erie calls we get are the deck and the pad. That is the work we quote.
Site
Why the ground here matters
Crystal Beach, Bay Beach, and Point Abino sit on sandier shore ground. Water moves. Edges need containment. A thin pad on loose sand will drop.
Inland Fort Erie, toward Stevensville and the concessions off Garrison Road, sits on shallow soil over clay. Clay holds water. It heaves when it freezes. The base has to be deeper and packed, or the deck opens at the joints by March.
Lake-effect winters are wet and they repeat. Control joints, pitch away from the house, and a real stone base are not extras here. They are the job.
Permits
Town rules we build to
Fort Erie pool work sits under By-law 149-08. The Building Department is at Town Hall, 1 Municipal Centre Drive. Call them at 905-871-1600, ext. 5510, before you spend on drawings.
A few numbers owners miss. The pool stays at least 1.0 m off a side or rear lot line. The hard surface around it (that is your concrete) stays at least 0.5 m off those lines. Pumps and filters want 3.0 m off a side lot line unless they sit in a shed. Fence height starts at 1.22 m. Gates have to self-close and self-latch.
In-ground work needs a lot grading plan from an Ontario land surveyor or a professional engineer. If you are near a watercourse, the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority may have a say. We do not dump pool water into the sanitary sewer. The Town forbids it.
2026 permit fees on the Town site: in-ground $239, above-ground $205, municipal protection deposit $500, lot grading deposit $2,500 for in-ground. Fees change. Confirm with Building.
Patios at grade do not need a building permit. A raised deck over 0.6 m and over 10 m² does. We will tell you which one you have.
Local
Around Fort Erie
We quote the whole town. The lot decides the mix and the base, not the postal code.
Crystal Beach and Bay Beach
Cottages and newer infill on the old amusement park side of town. Sand, wind, and short driveways for the truck. We watch overhead wires and tight side yards. Drainage has to go somewhere that is not the neighbour’s fence.
Point Abino
Bigger, quieter lots. Access can be the whole problem. If the mixer cannot get in, we say so on the first visit. No point drawing a deck the pump cannot reach.
Ridgeway
Village lots off Ridge Road. Setbacks get tight. A stamped deck that looks fine on a farm lot will not fit a Ridgeway rear yard once you keep that 0.5 m to the fence. We measure before we sell you a pattern.
Stevensville and Black Creek
Clay, larger lots, more room for the chute. Rural access is easier. The frost is not. We spend the extra time on the base out here because that is where decks fail.
Bridgeburg
Older streets near the river and the Peace Bridge. Small yards, old fences, sometimes a high water table. Tear-out of a cracked pad is common. We protect the boulevard. The Town holds a deposit for that.
Crescent Park and Waverly Beach
Niagara Parkway side. Nice views, and sometimes NPCA or drainage limits. We do not pour over a swale the grading plan needs to keep.
Garrison Road, Douglastown, and the concessions
Newer houses and country lots. Room for a full deck and a pad for an above-ground if that is the plan. We still check septic beds and well lines before we dig.
Process
How a job runs
We walk the yard. We look at soil, access, the fence, and the neighbour line. You get a written quote. If permits are still open, we wait on Building before we pour.
Tear-out, base, forms, pour, finish. You can usually walk it in a day or two. Full cure takes longer. We do not put furniture or a cover on green concrete because someone is having people over on Saturday.

Questions we get in Fort Erie
Do you build the whole concrete pool shell?
We pour decks, pads, steps, and the concrete around the pool. If your project is a full gunite shell, say that on the call. We will tell you if it is our work or not. We will not quote a shell we are not doing.
Can you pour a pad for an above-ground pool?
Yes. Level, thick enough, and out of the sand if you are near the beach. A cheap gravel pad on Crystal Beach sand is how those pools lean.
Will you deal with the Town permit?
You own the permit. We work to the drawing. We can tell you what Building wants on the site plan, including the concrete apron setbacks. In-ground jobs need a grading plan from a surveyor or engineer. That is not us.
When can you pour in Fort Erie?
After the ground is fit. Lake-effect spring can run late. We do not pour on a frozen base to hit a long weekend.
Do you only work in Crystal Beach?
No. Crystal Beach, Ridgeway, Stevensville, Bridgeburg, Crescent Park, Point Abino, and the rest of Fort Erie. We are based in Beamsville and run Niagara jobs, including the south end of the peninsula.
